A chakra is believed to be a center of activity that receives, assimilates, and expresses life force energy. The word chakra literally translates as "wheel" or "disc" and refers to the spinning spheres of bioenergetic activity. 6 of these wheels are believed to be stacked in a column of energy extending from the base of the spine to the center of the forehead, with a seventh chakra just above the head. They are the six main chakras that correlate with the basic states of consciousness. The seventh chakra is our connection to the spiritual world.

First Chakra - Root Chakra: Represented by the color red with red jasper, located at the base of the spine. It governs stability, as well as the relationship between money, housing and employment.

Second chakra - sacral chakra: represented by the color orange with orange calcite, located below the navel. It is about sexuality and reproduction. It governs perceptions related to food and sex.

Third chakra - solar plexus chakra: represented by the color yellow with yellow jasper, located behind the solar plexus. Gives a sense of power and rules the ego and freedom.

Fourth chakra - heart chakra: represented by the color green with green aventurine, located in the heart area. It gives the ability to express compassion and governs relationships as well as love.

Quint or chakra - throat chakra: represented by the color blue with amazonite, located in the throat area. It governs communication, listening and creative expression.

Sixth chakra - third eye chakra: represented by the color indigo blue with sodalite, located between the eyebrows. It governs inner sight, vision, dreams and the ability to learn from past experiences.

Seventh Chakra - Crown Chakra: Represented by the purple/golden white color with the amethyst, located just above the head. It rules wisdom and connection to the universe.
